The previous site was in desperate need of a facelift. We wanted to provide more than just a simple "re-skin", so we insisted on a Content Management System. The client was previously using Adobe Contribute to manage their site's content, and while Contribute is classified as a CMS, the static nature of the product proved to be quite limiting.
For the re-design, we installed WordPress and designed a custom theme for the client. In true CMS form, they are totally responsible for their own content, and WordPress keeps it easy to maintain.
For the site's calendar, we customized the 30Boxes application and pulled the converted RSS into the site's sidebar. We've also integrated GoogleDocs forms and a custom jQuery script to the homepage to cycle-through a series of images.
It was great to bring Congregation Beth-El Zedeck into the future, while maintaining centuries of Jewish tradition.
